Emily’s February Half-Term Holiday Camp with RoboThink

Our daughter really loved the RoboThink robotics holiday camp she attended in Belmont Mill Hill Preparatory School during this February half term break. We had been wanting to try RoboThink camps for some time now, so it was an easy choice to make.

What is RoboThink?

RoboThink is a leading STEM, coding for children, robotics, and engineering program nurturing geniuses across 20 countries to thousands of students each day. Their exciting themed STEM programs develop core STEM skills that students apply to school subjects and their future careers.

How did RoboThink get started?

RoboThink was started by CEO and Founder, Danny Park, being frustrated at how difficult it was to assemble a robotics kit he had purchased. Danny assembled a research team of university child researchers and toy engineers to come up with a design for a unique robotics kit that kids of any age and skills (adults included!) could easily learn and assemble, while at the same time, teaching valuable problem solving, spatial awareness and critical thinking skills.

The first class that RoboThink ran in Chicago was a tremendous hit with seats selling out fast and parents raving about the classes. Looking to share this discovery to the world, Danny franchised the innovative business model and has led the company to expand beyond the USA including the UK.

Location and facilities

Location of RoboThink Barnet is less than half an hour away from Muswell Hill and easy to get to by driving. There are a number of available parking spaces in front of the Belmont Mill Hill Preparatory School. Inside the school facilities were spacious and clean, and during the lunch breaks kids were able to use the outdoor playground.

Camp costs

Camp pricing varies by location, please contact your nearest RoboThink branch for details. You can choose from week-long, full & half-day. Additionally, we were asked to bring a packed lunch (to be consumed during a lunch break between 12-1pm), snacks, and a water bottle. The camp provided biscuits and alternative healthy option snacks for the kids throughout the day.

Camp structure & content

Emily attended the RoboThink camp called Build Your Own City. This camp was five full days, from 9AM to 4PM, with one hour break for lunch and outdoor play. From a parental perspective, a full-day camp like this was perfect for our family as it allowed us to work during this week without needing to take time off.

Emily really enjoyed her time in the RoboThink camp, the projects they worked on, and the instructors all seem top notch – kind, patient, and knowledgeable. After the first day, she walked out of the classroom excited and happy, asking if we can “pretty pleeeasy” come back tomorrow. On the way back home, she couldn’t stop talking about how much fun she had building all the construction machines and getting to know her new friends along the way.

Every day, the kids spent time learning about and doing a lot of hands-on robotics projects that boost skills like problem-solving and critical thinking. During the camp, kids worked in small groups on their own construction stations and received excellent support from RoboThink instructors. Seeing her truly enjoying a fun learning experience filled our hearts with so much joy. Now that our daughter has completed the week-long camp, we’d highly recommend it for all families passionate about STEM education.
