This year is a big one for World Book Day – it’s their 25th birthday! To make sure we celebrate in style Emily spent today all dressed up for this special occasion and doing all sorts of book related activities.
Emily read her favorite book

The most appropriate and enjoyable way to celebrate World Book Day is definitely reading! Does anything ever beat seeing your little book lover curled up with a good book? We join her in reading Andrea Beaty and illustrator David Roberts’s bestselling picture book Ada Twist, Scientist.
Emily dressed up as her favorite book character

For Emily, dressing up as her favorite book character and then showing off her outfit at school is the highlight of the day. This year, she chose to go as Ada Twist, Scientist (and no, we weren’t surprised) and asked us to take some pictures too to document this special day.
Emily picked up a £1 World Book Day book

One of the best ways to celebrate World Book Day is by getting your hands on this year’s £1 books. Emily went to the local bookshop House of Books on Muswell Hill Broadway and chose Nathan Bryon and Dapo Adeola’s Rocket Rules, but there’s a whole selection of wonderful stories for everyone to enjoy.
Emily got busy with a book activity pack
In the afternoon, Emily engaged in some hands-on activities based on Ada Twist, Scientist and her best friends – Rosie Revere, Engineer and Iggy Peck, Architect: coloring, maze, wordsearch, and other printables (you can find them here and here). To make it even more fun, we rewarded her with a prize for getting done with all the activities – Ada Twist’s Big Project Book for Stellar Scientists to hone her STEM skills and get those scientific juices flowing.
Emily had a book-themed movie night
Some of the greatest movies have been adapted from books. So at the end of the day, we settled down on the sofa and had a perfect book-themed movie night with Netflix’s TV series Ada Twist, Scientist. What a great way to spend some quality time together as a family!
